NIZAMABAD: Gadugu Gangadhar, a member of the Telangana State Farmers Welfare Commission on Tuesday said the state government has decided to set up a water users association (WUA) for the benefit of the farming community.
Speaking to media, Gangadhar said that one agriculture extension officers would be appointed for every 1,000 acres.
After the formation of Telangana, the BRS government had utterly neglected the welfare of farmers, Gangadhar said. It set up only nominal farmers coordination committees, he said, adding problems of farmers were resolved during the Congress rule only. He thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for setting up of a farmers’ welfare commission and appointing him as its member.
Gangadhar said they will resolve the problems related to agriculture, irrigation, seeds, fertilisers, godowns, rice mills, and agricultural cooperative societies.
Opposition parties are misleading people over Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver. On the pretext of farmers, BRS leaders attacked Vikarabad district collector in Lagacharla village, he said, adding serious action will be initiated, if anyone creates problems for farmers.
