HYDERABAD: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court directed the convener of the TG Lawcet-24 and PGLcet-24 to file an affidavit explaining his conduct in keeping the admission of the transgender person in LLB course in abeyance. The panel comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao was dealing with a writ plea filed by Mallula Nagasri seeking the benefit of horizontal reservation in the entrance exam for three-year and five-year LLB courses in the state to transgender persons by providing a separate category for transgender persons other than in the general category and women’s category for admissions. The panel had earlier directed the convener to take steps to treat the petitioner as a transgender candidate and accord the benefit of admission to the LLB course. It is contended by the petitioner that it was informed by the convener, that her admission is kept in abeyance. However, despite the directions of the court, it is alleged that the convener failed to comply with the said order. Per contra counsel for the respondents submitted that the convener is now instructed to reserve one seat for the petitioner. The panel considering the same directed an affidavit of the convener TG Lawcet-24 and TG PGLcet-2024, to be filed explaining the conduct in keeping the admission of the petitioner in abeyance and in not complying with the order of the court.
