Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday quashed Government Order (GO) 16 issued under Section 10A, which sought to regularize contract employees in the State.

The decision was challenged in the High Court by unemployed individuals who argued that the regularization was carried out in violation of established rules. They contended that the move contradicted a Supreme Court verdict on similar matters.
After taking up the case, the High Court ruled that the government’s actions were not in compliance with legal principles and struck down the GO. This decision is expected to have significant implications for the state’s employment policies.
The BRS government had issued orders of regularising 5,544 contract employees in the state. The employees include 2,909 Junior Lecturers, 184 Junior Lecturers (Vocational), 390 Polytechnic, 270 Degree lecturers, 131 attenders in Technical Education, 837 Medical assistants from Medical and Health, 179 lab technicians, 158 Pharmacists and others.
