Hyderabad: An intermediate student died on the spot after he accidentally got in contact with a live electric wire while trying to jump off the compound wall of the hostel at Narayana Junior College, Koheda within Hayathnagar police station limits on Friday.

According to Hayathnagar CI, the deceased, Girish Kumar, was desperately wanting to leave the college hostel due to his ‘homesickness’. On Sunday, Girish had contacted his mother, requesting her to take him back home. However, his mom visited the hostel and assured him that she would pick him by Tuesday or Wednesday.

However, when the boy realised that his mother wouldn’t come, on Tuesday night, he tried to escape from the hostel. Hayathnagar CI told Deccan Chronicle, “We saw him get out of the dormitory through the CCTV footage. Walking out, he found a compound wall. While attempting to jump off the wall and escape, he touched an electric wire which led to his death.”

“Since that side of the hostel is covered with bushes, nobody noticed his body. Later, we got a call from the HoD, saying Girish has gone missing. During investigation, we found his body,” he said.

When asked about the presence of security guards or a warden when the incident occurred, the CI said they are still investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, a case was registered under IPC Section 304.
