Telangana: Man, 2 Minors Held for Mobile Theft

Hyderabad: The north zone task force and Karkhana police, arrested Bariya Rakesh Nagaraj and two minors for the theft of mobile phones worth Rs.1.25 lakh. They were traced through CCTV footage following a complaint by a city resident that his mobile phone was stolen near the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Secunderabad. Nagaraj confessed that he and his team targetted single pedestrians at lonely places.

2 Held, Booty Worth Rs. 5 Lakh Recovered

Suryapet: Tirumalagiri police on Wednesday arrested Polepaka Ramesh of Ganugabanda in Thungathurthy mandal and Jeddi Naresh of Thimmapuram of Jajireddygudem mandal and recovered four stolen gold chains and 10 motorcycles worth Rs.5.44 lakh from them. Superintendent of police Sunpreet Singh said the duo was picked up during a routine check of vehicles at Jangaon crossroads and confessed to the thefts upon questioning.

Bike Rider, Pillion Told to Wear Helmet

Hyderabad: Begumpet ACP G. Shankar Raju, speaking at a traffic awareness programme on Wednesday, said pillion-riders on two-wheelers must wear a helmet for safety. He said police commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy was keen on the measure. He said prevention of road accidents was the responsibility of every road-user and they should follow rules.

Cops Give Tips to Utsav Samiti

Hyderabad: North zone DCP Sadhana Rashmi Perumal briefed Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti members and pandal organisers on precautionary measures ahead of the Lord Ganesha festival starting on Saurday. on Wednesday. The DCP noted the concerns expressed by the organisers. Elsewhere, south zone DCP Sneha Mehra counselling over 10 communal rowdysheeters and warned them against involvement in crimes.

RPF Cop Hands Over Missing Laptop

Hyderabad: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Kazipet, constable L. Narmada retrieved a laptop worth Rs.40,000 and handed it over to a person who had forgotten it. According to Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, the RPF-Secunderabad had so far restored Rs.1.77 crore worth of belongings to passengers.

Gambling Den Raided, 8 Held

Hyderabad: The south zone task force and the Hussainialam police raided a `satta den’ in Doodhbowly and arrested eight organisers involved in betting and seized Rs.76,150 from their possession. Police said the prime accused Shaik Mustafa and Mohd Sameer were operating out of a room and were using a website for the results. The other organisers were identified as Shaik Mahamood and Mohd Jaffar; another accused named Azeem was absconding.
