Karimnagar: A 26-year-old woman was killed by her husband, who suspected her of infidelity, in the early hours of Wednesday at Vempalli village in Mallapur mandal, Jagtial district.

According to sub-inspector of police P. Kiran Kumar, the accused, Velumula Ramesh, married Sunitha nine years ago. They have two children, aged eight and six.

Two years ago, Ramesh went to the Gulf in search of employment and returned a month ago. Since then, Ramesh started engaging in heated arguments with Sunitha, suspecting her of infidelity.

On Wednesday morning, he hit Sunitha badly and killed her by pressing her throat. Based on information received from neighbours, police rushed to the spot and took Ramesh into custody.

They shifted the body to the government hospital for a post-mortem and, after registering the case, began an investigation.
