Nalgonda: Minister for roads and buildings (R&B) Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday said there is no proper supply of drinking water in his village Brahmanavellamla of Narketpally under Mission Bhagiratha and he expects the same situation in other villages as well.

He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would inspect the works of SLBC tunnel in a week. Out of total 46 kilometers length of the tunnel, drilling of tunnel was completed for 34 kilometers. The state government has recently released

Rs50 crores for the works. We do not need lift irrigation schemes after the completion of the SLBC tunnel.

Cutting across party lines, Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTCs) members and Mandal Parishad Presidents (MPPs) raised the issue of irregular and inadequate supply of drinking water in their areas.

Many of them complained that drinking water was being supplied in their areas once or twice in a week. Responding to it, Venkat Reddy said drinking water is not supplied properly to people in Brahmanavellamla, his native place, even though Rs 4,000 crore was spent by the earlier government for Mission Bhagiratha in the district.

Supporting him, Telangana state legislative council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, who also attended the meeting, said half the houses in his native place Urmadla of Chityal mandal do not get adequate drinking water supply. Village works under Mission Bhagiratha were paralyzed as bills of contractors were pending for last two years.

He also expressed anger at the officials of Mission Bhagiratha for informing the meeting that the capacity of over head tanks (OHTs) would cater for the requirement of drinking water supply till 2023 and sufficient water being supplied to every house in the district.

During a discussion on agriculture, Venkat Reddy said crop loans to the tune of Rs 31,000 crore would be waived by the state government in the last week of June or first week of August. The state government would take a decision on Rythu Bharosa after receiving report from cabinet sub-committee on July 15. It has come to his notice that some owners of the lands that were acquired for National Highway were also getting investment support under Rythu Bandhu.

The state government aimed at completing the pending irrigation projects in the district within three years and to provide irrigation facility to additional four lakh acres, he added

Zilla Parishad chairman Banda Narender Reddy, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, MLAs B Laxma Reddy, Nenavath Balu Naik, Vemula Veeresham and Mandula Samuel attended the meeting.
