Mancherial: The state government is taking proactive steps to popularise ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana Janani Jaya Kethanam,’ the official state song, and bring it closer to the people, said minister Damodhar Rajanarasimha.
The song, which reflects the aspirations of Telangana's people, will be sung at the beginning of all government programmes, including the ongoing one-year Vijayotsavulu celebrations. Minister Rajanarasimha stated that honouring the state song is a priority, as it holds deep cultural and emotional significance.
The minister criticised the BRS government for neglecting the song during its tenure, noting that it was the Congress government that officially recognised it as the state song. Written and sung by poet Ande Sri during the Telangana agitation, the song played a pivotal role in inspiring and uniting the people during the movement. Its lyrics were later composed into a musical piece by renowned music director Keeravani.
At a government programme held in Mancherial on Thursday, ministers Damodhar Rajanarasimha and Sridhar Babu, along with the local MLA, collector, and other district officials, joined attendees in singing the state song, further reaffirming its importance and cultural value.
