Hyderabad: Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the government was focusing on promoting diverse tourism categories, including adventure, spiritual tourism, heritage, wildlife, nature, and destination weddings, while also working to identify and develop new tourist regions.

The government had allocated Rs 99.46 crore for tourism projects, Krishna Rao said in a statement on Tuesday. A notable development included the addition of a third island at Laknavaram reservoir. Administrative approvals have been granted for projects in areas like Manthani, Ramagiri Fort, Kodada, and Nagarjunasagar.

He said the government had secured Rs 130 crore in Central assistance for major tourism projects including Bhongir fort, Ananthagiri hills, Buddhavanam, and Nizamsagar. Additionally, proposals for Rs 250 crore in tourism development under the special assistance scheme will be used to upgrade prominent locations like Nagarjunasagar, Warangal, and the Nallamala Circuit to international standards.

To attract wedding tourism, the state is focusing on the 160 km stretch along the Krishna River, through the Nallamala forests.
