Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has announced that the state government would set up two new thermal power plants — one at Ramagundam and the other near the Naini coal blocks in Odisha.

The Ramagundam plant would be a joint venture between the TG Genco and Singareni Collieries Company.

After distributing appointment orders to 314 new assistant engineers and chemists of Genco at an event near the Secretariat, Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the BRS government ignored the power sector during its 10-year rule.

He said the state Cabinet has recently adopted the new energy policy after a study of renewable energy opportunities in the state. The new energy policy would be announced on January 9. “The state also made grand plans to attract domestic and foreign investment to generate an additional 22,448mw of power by 2030, besides generating 20,000 mw of green energy.”

Bhatti Vikramarka said the BRS government completely ignored the Naini Coal Block in Odisha. But, the Congress government held discussions with the Odisha government to ensure handing over of the coal block to Singareni.

The BRS had earlier unleashed a false campaign that the state would land in darkness once the Congress came to power. But, the people have not trusted such false campaigns, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, “The unemployed youth and students were under despair during the BRS rule due to non-recruitment of jobs. But, the Congress government has taken up reforms of the TG-PSC and announced the job calendar like UPSC.”

“Our government conducted the recruitments in a transparent manner and gave appointment letters to 56,000 members so far,” he said.

Bhatti Vikramarka launched a new logo 'Chemata Chukkalaku Tarphidu’ of the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. He lauded the efforts of Singareni in conducting the awareness programmes for the students in the coal belt area for their foreign education and employment opportunities.

The state government’s advisers Keshava Rao, Shabbir Ali, Energy secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Transco CMD Krishna Bhaskar, Singareni CMD Balram Nayak and GENCO directors took part in the meeting.
