Hyderabad: The Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) has won the Governance Now 12th PSU Awards 2026 in Operational Excellence, Automation and Digital Technology, reinforcing its position in power distribution innovation. The award was received in New Delhi by Company Secretary K. Venkatesham and handed over to CMD Karnati Varun Reddy at Vidyut Bhavan, Hanamkonda, on Monday in the presence of directors and chief engineers.
Varun Reddy attributed the achievement to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal. He said the award reflects employees’ dedication and a consumer-first approach through technology. TGNPDCL also won in the Innovation category at the IPPAI Power Awards 2026.
The utility uses AI-based feeder outage prediction by analysing complaints, maintenance records, outages and weather data for proactive action. Its real-time feeder monitoring system using SCADA enables instant fault detection and tracks reliability metrics such as SAIDI and SAIFI. Fault Passage Indicators on 33kV and 11kV lines have helped identify and resolve 8,882 faults, reducing downtime, Varun Reddy said.
Serving 72 lakh consumers across 17 districts, TGNPDCL conducts Polam Bata and Praja Bata programmes to address field issues. Electricity Prajavani resolves over 12,500 complaints weekly through a 24x7 call centre and emergency restoration teams.
The consumers also benefit from digital services including the TGNPDCL Mobile App for payment of bills and lodge complaints, WhatsApp Chatbot, UPI payments, and Line Clearance Android App for secure operations.
