TGPCB Officials Order Closure of Rudra Technologies for Effluent Dumping

Hyderabad: Telangana Pollution Control Board officials issued a closure order to Rudra Technologies (formerly Srinivasa Labs), located in Sangareddy district, on Tuesday for illegal transportation and dumping of untreated effluents via a tanker (bearing number AP 28 TD 4699) into the Musi River near Bapu Ghat Bridge.

Residents of Langar Houz caught the illegal discharge of effluents via tanker AP 28 TD 4699 into the Musi River on November 26 at 1.30 am and lodged a complaint at the Rajendra Nagar Police Station. The police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The TGPCB officials inspected the site and observed that a sand and aggregate metal trading site had been established beside the Musi river near Bapu Ghat Bridge. A parking lot for lorries was found within the premises, along with a pipeline arranged to discharge effluents into the Musi river. Officials noted that effluents were being discharged covertly through this pipeline and tankers. Samples of contaminated water and soil were collected from the Musi River and its banks.

Further, TGPCB officials visited the Rajendranagar police station and collected samples from the tanker, which contained about 12-15 KLD (kiloliters per day) of effluents. Upon verifying the tax invoice, they found that, as per the invoice dated November 25, 2024, the effluents were being sent from Rudra Technologies in Pashamailaram, Sangareddy district, to Raghavendra Chemicals in Karankote village, Vikarabad district.

TGPCB officials inspected Rudra Technologies on November 26, 2024. During the inspection, they reviewed CCTV footage from nearby industries and confirmed that the tanker, bearing registration number AP 28 TD 4699, departed from the facility around 5 am on November 25.

Previously, the Board had issued closure orders to Raghavendra Chemicals on April 11, 2023, for discharging effluents into a forest area. That facility remains non-operational to date.
