Hyderabad: Over 100 flights and over 50 trains were delayed due to intense fog for the third consecutive day in Delhi, leading to travel disruptions across the country. Poor visibility in many places in north India, including Srinagar and Varanasi, further contributed to travel chaos. Travel from Chandigarh, Amritsar, Lucknow and Kolkata were also disrupted.

At least three flights to and from Hyderabad were delayed on Sunday due to the dense fog in Varanasi and Srinagar. Among those affected were the onward and return flights to Varanasi and a flight from the Jammu and Kashmir capital.

Besides, a traveller claimed that a Delhi-Hyderabad flight had got cancelled, which was not backed up by the authorities.

Several users expressed concern over the lack of timely updates and communication from airlines regarding the delays. Many demanded better coordination to ensure passengers are informed about weather-related disruptions in advance.

Airlines advised passengers to check its website or app to stay updated on flight schedules and plan accordingly to avoid further inconvenience.

A PTI report from Srinagar said that ten flights were cancelled due to poor visibility caused by fog. The early morning visibility was down to 50 metres.

At the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi, over 100 flights were delayed due to adverse weather conditions. The airport operates about 1,300 flights a day.

Low visibility conditions due to dense fog have been impacting flight operations for three days now. “Low Visibility Procedures are still in progress at Delhi Airport,” the official said.

“Due to adverse weather conditions, flights to/from Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Lucknow are impacted,” IndiGo said in a post on X.

While regretting the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline also requested them to visit its website or app to explore alternate flight options.
