Three Persons Who Swept Away Found Dead in Mahabubabad

Warangal: The bodies of three persons, including a father and daughter, who were swept away by floodwaters following heavy rain on Sunday, were recovered in Mahbubabad district on Monday.

The victims were identified as Nunavath Mothilal and his daughter Ashwini, an agricultural research scientist, of Gangram thanda in Karepalli mandal, Khammam district. They were travelling from Khammam to the Shamshabad airport when their car was swept off the Purushothamayagudem bridge by strong currents of the Akeru Vagu stream.

As they were being swept away, they called their family. The incident occurred in Maripeda mandal of Mahbubabad district early Sunday morning.

Rescue teams, alerted by social media reports, launched a search operation and discovered Ashwini's body in the fields near Dharmaram in Maripeda mandal on Sunday evening and Mothilal's body on the outskirts of Purushothamayagudem on Monday.

In a separate incident, Chinna Narsaiah, a fisherman from Venkatapuram village in Thorrur mandal, was swept away by floodwaters while fishing in Balla Cheruvu on Saturday. His body was found in the waters on Monday.

A van carrying five people was washed away by water from the Rolla Vagu on the outskirts of Mahbubabad town. After being alerted by locals, police and fire officials, with the help of locals, rescued four of the van's occupants using ropes. A search operation is ongoing to locate the fifth person who remains missing.
