Adilabad: A tiger that was sighted at various locations over the past few days was seen crossing the main road at Mahbub ghats in Sarangapur mandal at 10.30 pm on Sunday. The same tiger was subsequently spotted near agricultural fields in Burugupalli, Mamada mandal, early on Monday morning.
Drivers travelling in private vehicles were startled when the tiger suddenly appeared in front of their vehicles. Many witnesses captured the incident on video, which was later shared on social media platforms.
Residents who saw the tiger crossing the road notified forest officials. In response, the officials rushed to the scene, halted vehicles travelling from Nirmal to Adilabad, and diverted traffic heading towards Mahbub ghats via the old Nirmal route on NH-44 to ensure the tiger's safety and prevent potential accidents.
The tiger was initially spotted on the outskirts of Boorugupalli village by 18-year-old Laxmi while she was visiting her agricultural fields around 6.30 am in Mamada mandal. Her dog began barking upon seeing the tiger approaching from a distance, causing Laxmi to panic and rush home. She informed her family, who then alerted the newly assigned forest staff.
Forest officials are actively tracking the tiger's movements and have set up trap cameras to monitor its activity. According to officials, the tiger may be moving towards the Kadam and Khanapur forests, which fall under the Kawal Tiger Reserve.
