Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday asked the Telugu film industry celebrities to  to take the responsibility to guide and control their fans during the release of movies. However, he made it clear that there would be no benefit shows in the state.

Underlining the importance of maintaining law and order, he stressed the important role of celebrities in shaping public awareness. Revanth Reddy said this during a crucial meeting convened with the film industry members at Integrated Police Command and Control Centre here.

“The government stands firmly with the industry, but there is no room for compromising on law and order. It is the responsibility of celebrities to guide and control their fans,” he stated.

The Chief Minister urged film personalities to lead campaigns promoting drug control and women’s safety. He also encouraged the industry to support initiatives like temple tourism and ecotourism, which contribute to the state’s cultural and economic growth.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for industry collaboration on investment opportunities and warned that the use of bouncers at events would be closely regulated. “There will be no benefit shows, as we have already clarified in the Assembly,” CM reiterated.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the Telugu film industry and ensuring its growth.

"The problems faced by the film industry were brought to our attention, and we have been listening carefully," said the Chief Minister.

Revanth Reddy also shared the steps already taken by the government, including issuing special Government Orders (GOs) for eight films and providing police support for the blockbuster Pushpa.

Acknowledging the importance of the film industry alongside IT and Pharma, Reddy assured that it is a top priority for the state government. "Recognizing that awards were not being given in Telangana, we established the Gaddar Award to honour the achievements of the industry," he added.

The CM also announced the appointment of popular producer Dil Raju as Chairman of the Film Development Corporation (FDC), tasked with bridging the gap between the government and the film industry. A cabinet sub-committee would be formed to resolve the industry's challenges, with Reddy urging the industry to form its own committee.

Discussing the potential of Hyderabad as a film hub, Reddy highlighted the city’s connectivity to all parts of Telangana and its growing role in ecotourism and temple tourism. "Bollywood has settled in Mumbai because of its climate, and we aim to make Hyderabad a new center for the film industry," he said.

Revanth Reddy also stressed the need for the film industry to engage with social issues, alongside addressing concerns like marijuana and drugs. "Whatever progress has been made for the film industry, it has been achieved under the previous Congress governments, and we will continue that legacy," he noted.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Telugu film industry. "As Chief Minister, it is my responsibility to implement the law fairly. There are no personal preferences here. Let us work together to develop the Telugu film industry. Our government will always stand by it," he concluded.
