TPCC Chief Sure of Cong. Win in Local Body Polls
Adilabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed confidence that the Congress will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming local body elections. He attributed this optimism to widespread public disapproval of the BRS and BJP, criticising their "cheap politics" within the state.
Goud said that 80-90 per cent of the electorate opposes the BJP, emphasising that voters are seeking genuine development — a commitment the Congress government has upheld. He highlighted that in the 13 months of their tenure, the Congress has achieved development and welfare milestones comparable to what the BRS accomplished in a decade of rule.
Speaking to the media after the Adilabad Parliament Constituency level meeting on Monday, Mahesh Kumar Goud assured that the Congress will fulfil all its promises to the people in a phased manner. He described the BJP’s victories in recent Assembly and Parliament elections as temporary, attributing their success to vote-bank politics that incited communal sentiments among voters.
Goud expressed confidence that the people of Telangana reject communal and caste-based politics. He predicted that by the next Assembly elections, the BRS will lose its influence, and the BJP's presence will be minimal, a sentiment echoed by the state's populace.
Addressing the shortcomings of the BJP, Goud criticised their MLAs and MPs for failing to bring development projects and special welfare schemes to Telangana from the Central government, citing the former Adilabad district as a clear example. In contrast, he lauded the Congress for bringing the airport to Warangal and striving to establish another airport in Adilabad. He assured that Adilabad remains a priority for the state government’s development and welfare initiatives.
Mahesh Kumar Goud also accused BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao of criminal activities, with reference to Formula E Car Racing, and alleged internal conflicts within the party for the position of party president among Kavitha, Rama Rao, and Harish Rao. He condemned the BRS for unethical use of social media to tarnish the Congress’ reputation, alleging that some BRS social media handles are operated from Dubai and Singapore.
The party meeting was attended by key Congress leaders, including Deepadas Munshi, AICC secretary Vishwanathan, adviser A. Venugopal, MLA Vedma Bojju, and senior leaders such as Indrakaran Reddy, Venugopala Chary, Kandi Srinivas Reddy, Srihari Rao, Rekha Naik, Shyam Naik, Kotnak Tirupati, Narayana Rao Patel, Vittal Reddy, Soyam Bapurao, Atram Sakku, Vishwa Prasad, Naresh Jadhav, Durgam Bhaskar, and Atram Suguna. Additionally, minister for rural development Seethakka participated in the meeting.
