Union minister praises IIT-Hyderabad for its rise in prominence

Hyderabad:  Union minister of state for education Dr Sukanta Majumdar predicted that IIT Hyderabad would become a prominent institute to shape and mould the country towards the Viksit Bharat.

During his visit to the institute on Thursday, Dr Majumdar focused on advancing educational innovation, sustainable growth, and boosting the institute’s contributions to India’s development trajectory.
In his keynote address, the MoS praised IITH’s rise to prominence in education and research, highlighting its consistent performance in NIRF rankings, robust research ecosystem, and impressive placement outcomes. He noted the institute’s significant contributions to societal welfare through outreach efforts such as Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and the BUILD programme under the iTIC Incubator, which drives student-led innovation.
Reflecting on international collaborations, he spoke about the impact of the JICA Friendship Project in establishing world-class labs and research facilities and reiterated that IITH’s focus on holistic education, environmental sustainability, and strategic industry partnerships would continue to strengthen its position as one of India’s foremost institutions.
At the Research Centre Complex, Dr Majumdar explored the SATHI (Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institute) Centre for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (CISCoM), lauding its high-end research capabilities. His visit also extended to TiHAN, India’s premier Autonomous Navigation testbed for ground and aerial vehicle trials.
He engaged with pioneering self-driving vehicles and innovative drone technologies, praising the strides made in autonomous mobility. Expressing admiration for IITH’s research culture, he applauded the dedication and innovation demonstrated by its teams.
During the official address, Prof. B. S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad acknowledged the government of India’s Viksit Bharat vision and detailed IITH’s role in realising it, while M. Raghunandan Rao commended the institute’s remarkable achievements and its path to becoming a centrepiece of India’s technological and educational landscape.
