Hyderabad:With the position of the chief electrical inspector vacant for 20 days, approvals for new projects have been halted. CEIG approval is required for electrical installations with a capacity greater than 10 kilowatts (kw).
Worst affected are real estate projects, residential and commercial, mostly multi-storeyed buildings where the inauguration was planned in the Dasara period.
Power connections are given only after CEIG approval, and electricity meters are installed based on the requirement of the property owners.
“Junior officials say they don’t have the authority to give approval and are keeping the files pending,” said a source in the energy department.
