YSRC Wants EVMs of 15 Polling Stations Checked

Vijayawada: YSRC has demanded that the Election Commission check the microcontroller of EVMs deployed at 15 polling stations located in Vizianagaram parliamentary constituency and two assembly constituencies of the Bobbili and Nellimarla assembly segments.
The party sought that the same be done with regard to the Gajapathinagaram assembly segment and in 12 polling stations of the Ongole assembly constituency.
Incidentally, the Election Commission, in its order issued on June 1, 2024, issued a detailed administrative standard operating procedure. Accordingly, the chief electoral officer concerned is required to communicate to manufacturers, within 30 days of the date of declaration of results on June 4. The CEOs concerned conveyed the same to manufacturers 15 days ahead of the schedule.
Accordingly, the checking and verification process can be initiated within four weeks of verification of an election petition filed in the respective constituencies with the registrars of the respective high courts.
The manufacturers will issue a schedule for EVM checking and verification within two weeks of receipt of the election petition status from the concerned CEOs. The checking and verification of units will start within four weeks of confirmation of the election petition status.
