Unidentified Man Strangled and Beaten by Gang in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A gang beat up and strangled an unidentified man at the NI-MSME ground in Karmikanagar, Borabanda police said. The victim was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition. Sources said that earlier a person had been murdered at the ground.

Hyderabad: The north zone task force and Begumpet police arrested four persons for snatching mobile phones and recovered property worth `1 lakh from them. The accused, Prem Ray, Nirajan Tiruw, Bikram Budha, and Bishal Kumal, natives of Nepal and Sikkim. At about 1 am on Saturday, the gang threatened two persons at Rasoolpura crossroads and made off with their mobile phones.

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old woman security guard, Gitanjali, allegedly died by suicide reportedly after she was touched inappropriately by her colleagues, Miyapur police said on Sunday. She worked as a security guard at a coaching centre and was allegedly being harassed by colleagues.

According to Miyapur circle inspector Durga Ramalinga Prasad, the incident occurred on the intervening night of August 8 and 9. “The mother of the deceased has filed a complaint. We have registered a case and have four security guards into police custody.”

Police identified the accused as Gautham, Ashish, Mithun and Shankar.

The family of the accused held a protest in front of the coaching centre, alleging the police had only registered a case and no further action has been taken against the accused.

Three Arrested for Mobile Phone Theft in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Special zonal crime teams from the CCS arrested three persons in connection with the theft of mobile phones and recovered 25 stolen gadgets from their possession. They were identified as autorickshaw drivers Shaheer and Mohd Jahangir, who allegedly stole the phones, and the receiver Vinod Kumar Tiwari. The accused had been earlier arrested by the Rachakonda and Cyberabad police, CCS inspector D. Bikshapathi said.

Man Arrested at Hyderabad Airport for Smuggling 1.39 kg Gold

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested a person at the Shamshabad airport who was attempting to smuggle 1.39 kg gold worth Rs.1 crore from Dubai to Hyderabad. Upon questioning and scanning of passenger, two yellow coloured large metal bars in the shape of batteries were found, one in his left shoe and the other in his backpack.

Nalgonda Police Seize 53 Vehicles for Registration Plate Violations

Hyderabad: The Nalgonda district police seized 53 automobiles for violating the registration plate rules. The vehicles, six cars, two autorickshaws and 44 two-wheelers, were seized during a ‘nakabandi’ that was ordered by police superintendent Sarath Chandra Pawar. Police also detained minors driving vehicles and registered cases against the vehicle owners. Also, 54 drunk drivers including suspects consuming liquor in public places were booked. The first-time violators were counselled at the One Town police station by incharge SHO Rajasekhar Reddy. Henceforth, sniffer dogs will be used during checks to search for narcotic drugs, Pawar said.
