Vijayawada: Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar expressed his irateness at the officials over the decreasing quality and quantity of essential items supplied to the ration card holders. He carried out a surprise inspection at the Gollapudi MLA point godown and found several irregularities in the packaging of the essential items on Wednesday.

On this occasion, the minister checked the quantity of essential items like sugar, oil, and red gram packets on the weighing machines and found at least 20 to 50 grams less quantity in each packet.

Taking a serious exception, the civil supplies minister directed the officials to take the necessary action against the contractor entrusted with the packaging and ordered them to return all the substandard-quality items. He further directed the officials to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report as soon as possible.
