Ruthvika Shivani clinches Russian Open title

Vladivostok: Indian Shuttler Ruthvika Shivani Gadde on Sunday clinched the Russian Open title after defeating Russia's Evgeniya Kosetskaya(180) in finals of the women's singles event at the Russian Open Grand Prix here in Vladivostok.

The fourth seeded player defeated the Russian 21-10, 21-13 in a match that lasted for around 30 minutes.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) congratulated the 19-year-old on Twitter saying, "Young @RuthvikaS is the women's singles champion at the Russia Open Grand Prix! Many congratulations champ! Well played."

In the men's singles event, Siril Verma lost to top seeded Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia to take the Silver.

"Siril Verma played his heart out but ended up losing the #RussiaGP final 21-16, 19-21, 10-21 to 1st seed Zulkiffli to take the Silver," tweeted BAI.

Meanwhile, The mixed doubles duo of N Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra, who clinched the Brazil Open Grand Prix title last month, defeated Russia's Vladimir Ivanov and Valeria Sorokina to clinch the Gold.

"The mixed doubles duo of @pranaav6 and @sikkireddy are on a roll! After clinching the Brazil GP, they win Gold in the #RussiaGP!! Congrats," said BAI.
