Chennai’s loss in the crucial trump match cancels out their point in the men’s doubles victory, taking the score now to 1-0 in Bengaluru’s favour.
India’s star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth locked horns with Chennai’s Wei Feng Chong in the third fixture, with Bengaluru also opting to play their Trump Match chip. It was all too comfortable an affair for one of the finest badminton players in the land as he breezed past Chong, winning both sets by 15-10. Kidambi troubled the left-handed player with his ferocious and nearly unplayable smashes to put the fixture to bed. This victory which was also a Trump match for Bengaluru took Bengaluru to an overall lead of 3-0.
Chennai looked to pull one back through Ji Hyun Sung in the women’s singles, where she won the first set 15-10. The second set was a hard fought comeback by T.Vu, where she won 15-14. Ji Hyun Sung eventually won the fixture by beating Vu 15-10 in the tie breaking set.
