Vishnu clinches two titles in state badminton tourney
In the U-15 boys singles final, Vishnu's opponent G. Pranav Rao gave a walkover.
M. Meghana Reddy continued her fine form as the Hyderabad girl clinched the title in the U-15 girls singles category and finished second best in the in the U-17 girls singles at the 3rd Telangana State Sub-Junior (boys & girls) Badminton Championship that was played at the Sri Fit Pro Badminton House in Serlingampally.
In the girls U-15 final, top seed Meghana defeated A. Abhilasha in a hard fought battle by a 21-15, 19-21, 21-15 verdict.
In the first game, Meghana dominated Abhilasha 21-15 only to lose the next game narrowly by a 19-21 score. But, in the decider she doubled her efforts to win the game and title by a six-point margin (21-15).
Later in the U-17 girls singles final, Meghana made a shaky start in the first game after going down 16-21 against Keyura Mopati. The next game too was a tight contest between both Hyderabad girls but, Meghana dodged Keyura by a 21-18 score to level the games tally.
In the decider, both Keyura and Meghana gave tough time to each other, however it was the former player who had the last laugh as she won the the final game by a 21-15 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Ranga Reddy’s P. Sai Vishnu was the other player to shine after winning two titles. In the U-15 boys singles final, Vishnu’s opponent G. Pranav Rao gave a walkover.
Later, both Vishnu and Pranav combined to win the U-15 boys doubles title after defeating K. Bhargava Reddy and his partner from Nalgonda P. Saketh Reddy. The scores read 21-12, 21-18.
Meanwhile, Ranga Reddy’s pair A. Shika & K. Bhargavi carved out a comfortbale victory over K. Sreshta Reddy and S. Vaishnavi in straight games 21-11, 21-14 to take top honours in the U-15 girls doubles section.
In the U-17 boys singles final, M. Tharun clinched a thrilling victory over P. Vishnuvardhan Goud to take top place on podium. The verdict read 22-20, 21-19.
Later, B. Navaneeth & Vishnuvardhan defeated K. Prashanth and Tharun in U-17 boys doubles final while G. Srivedya & Y. Sai Shreya won the U-17 girls doubles title.
