During the recently-concluded Denmark Open, Akane Yamaguchi had defeated Saina Nehwal in straight games.
Paris: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Thursday suffered a loss in straight sets during her French Open Super Series second round match to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi after the final score read 21-19, 23-21 in favour of the latter.
The Japanese completed yet another win over the Hyderabadi shuttler in just 28 minutes, and completed her second win over the Indian in less than a week.
It was in the recently-concluded Denmark Open where the 20-year-old Japanese thrashed the Indian 10-21, 13-21 in straight sets.
It was a poor start by the Indian, trailing 6-11 in the first game, which ended with 21-19. However, Saina showed a fightback in both the games, but her efforts went in vain. In the end, it was a forgettable night for the 27-year-old Hyderabadi as she crashed out of the tournament, with a disappointing loss.
