Mumbai: When stadiums in India are being refurbished for the ICC World T20, Feroz Shah Kotla (New Delhi) is doubtful whether they can host the games assigned. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) were supposed to obtain ‘No Objection Certificates’ from all quarters by January 31, the deadline they failed to meet.

DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan had written a letter to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asking for an extension till February 10.

According to sources, BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur forwarded the matter to International Cricket Council (ICC).

Being an ICC event, they are likely to decide whether DDCA could be given additional time to tick the required boxes.

A source close to BCCI said Thakur — currently in Dubai along with BCCI president Shashank Manohar — is likely to speak to ICC officials on the DDCA issue on Monday.

DDCA also lost out on the T20 match between India and Sri Lanka recently. The match, originally to be held in Kotla on February 12, has been transferred to Ranchi.

Kotla is scheduled to host four matches in the World T20, which also includes a semifinal on March 30.
