Glenn Maxwell eyes World Cup slot
Maxwell calculated his game and went after the bowlers backing himself to finish the game and remain unbeaten.
Bengaluru: If Glenn Maxwell was disappointed that he could not finish the game in Vishakapatnam, he made sure that he stayed right till the end in Bengaluru, as he brought up his third T20 ton and single-handedly won the game for Australia.
Nicknamed the ‘Big Show’ for his ability to strike the ball big, Maxwell calculated his game and went after the bowlers backing himself to finish the game and remain unbeaten.
“We (the partnership with D’Arcy Short) had an idea to get the required run rate down to 100 of the last eight (overs) and we were able to bat well enough and hit the loose balls and target certain balls”, Maxwell said.
Maxwell has his eyes set on making it to the World Cup squad in England and admitted that he would like to bat higher up if the opportunity arises.
“So, it’d be nice to bat higher, but there’s obviously a lot of well-credentialed players in our top-four and top five that thoroughly deserve their spot.”
