New Delhi: Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has cited the reason of his daughter being unwell for not appearing before an inquiry committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board in Lahore.

According to media reports, the beleaguered captain reportedly told the committee that his daughter was unwell and that he could not appear before the PCB committee in person.

The committee comprises of Misbah-ul Haq, Younus Khan, Subhan Ahmed and Shakil Sheikh. It is formed to establish facts behind Pakistan’s disastrous performance in the World Twenty20 and the Asia Cup performance. Afridi was specially asked to appear to explain his position. Some reports said that he recorded his version on the phone.

A picture of Afridi observing his daughter in a hospital bed had been doing the rounds on social media. Some users claim that his daughter is undergoing a minor surgery and wished her a speedy recovery. The illness is not known though.

Confirming that Asmara underwent a surgery, Afridi thanked his well wishers for their good wishes.

A warm hug from my loving daughter Asmara after her surgery, made me feel complete. Thanks everyone for remembering her in ur prayers.
