In the midst of much anticipation and excitement for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently unveiled the official tournament poster for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India.

The poster features all the ten participating teams' captains including England, the current champions posing with the ICC trophy with CST Mumbai in its full glory, resplendent with lights along with a BEST bus serving as the backdrop. For reasons best known to the organisers and the design team of the poster, it does not feature the Captains' official photographs.

Going by the fans' reactions on the social media, the poster has left cricket enthusiasts worldwide underwhelmed and disappointed. The poster's release on social media platforms sparked a flurry of reactions, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction over the design choice and lack of creativity.

While expressing disappointment over the poster, a user wrote, “Ok no words for a ‘World Cup’ poster.” Another called it a downgrade. Some of the users also pointed to poor planning of the organising committee right from "getting the WC schedule 13 months in advance to getting last minute schedule changes to a schedule that was announced just over two months before. No theme song. No hype. The captain poster went from this to this." wrote another user comparing this poster with 2019 edition poster sharing their pictures, before concluding that there can never be a bigger downgrade of all the aspects of organising the game.
