MS Dhoni breaks into 3 record books on 300th ODI
MS Dhoni who scored an unbeaten 49 on Thursday, has also entered the list of players to have scored the most runs in their 300th ODI.
Colombo: Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who played his 300th ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday, had a memorable outing here as he finished unbeaten on 49, guiding Team India to 375-5 from 50 overs.
With this match, MS Dhoni not only entered the elite list of players to have featured in 300 ODIs or more, but also broke several records. The Jharkhand batsman now holds the record for most number of not outs in ODIs, as well as the most number of not outs overall in international cricket.
With 73 not outs, Dhoni tops the list ahead of Shaun Pollock (72), Chaminda Vaas (72) and Michael Bevan (67), who are placed second, third and fourth respectively. Muttiah Muralitharan (63) and Chris Harris (62) are just behind.
The top three players to have stayed not out for most number of times in overall international cricket also consists of the same, with Dhoni leading the charts (122), while Muralitharan (119) and Pollock (113) are just behind.
Dhoni, who scored an unbeaten 49 on Thursday, has also entered the list of players to have scored the most runs in their 300th ODI, completing the top five for the list. The list is topped by Tilakeratne Dilshan (101 runs), with Jacques Kallis (85), Sourav Ganguly (59) and Rahul Dravid (52). MS Dhoni completes the list with 49 not out in his 300th ODI.
India will play the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, which will be followed by a lone T20 on September 6.
