KL Rahul gives fans close look at Virat Kohli and Team India's net session
While the Indian players are getting ready for the next battle, KL Rahul decided to give fans a close look at what goes on in a net session.
Bengaluru: Team India players are sweating it out in the net sessions to make a strong comeback against Australia in the second Test. The Virat Kohli-led side lost the first Test in Pune by a huge margin of 333 runs.
While the players are getting ready for the next battle, Indian opener KL Rahul decided to give fans a close look at what goes on in a net session.
The Karnataka player said that the training scheduled for the net session is set by head coach Anil Kumble and is put on a board. The players refer to the board after warming up to get an idea as to who will have a bat first and who will have a bowl.
The batsman shared that the team is using three nets with pacers bowling in one, spinners in the second, the third net is used by batsmen to get throwdowns from the coaching staff, as per their needs.
The third net is used by batsmen to practice individual skills which include playing short ball, reverse swing or a different type of spin.
The opener revealed that a batsman generally spends around 12 minutes in each of the three nets, with the match a few days away. The time to be spent in each net comes down to 7-8 minutes on the eve of the match as players don’t want to hit too many balls.
Rahul explained that batsmen try to replicate match situations in a net session. Talking about himself, the right-handed batsman explained that while facing Ravichandran Ashiwn at the nets, he would imagine him as Nathan Lyon and play accordingly.
