Nagpur: MS Dhoni did not get a chance to smash sixes as India beat Australia by seven wickets in the fifth ODI to clinch the five-match ODI series 4-1 here on Sunday. However, the former India skipper did his bit to help the team win the match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha.

While Axar Patel was taken to the cleaners in the fourth ODI in Bengaluru by David Warner and Aaron Finch, the left-arm spinner was India’s most successful bowler in the Nagpur ODI and returned with the figures of 3/38 as Virat Kohli’s side restricted Australia to 242 after Steve Smith elected to bat after winning the toss.

As Australia were looking good to put up a big total on the board, Axar ended Warner-Smith partnership by scalping the former’s wicket. Axar then added two more wickets to his account as he dismissed Peter Handscomb and Travis Head. The stump mic, meanwhile, picked up Dhoni advising Axar.

“Dheere daal. Thoda zyada ghoomega. (Bowl slow, it will turn more.)”
The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman also chipped in with, “Tez nahin, halka daal. (Don’t bowl fast.)”
