Virat Kohli's Team India have picked aggression from Kapil Dev era, says Viv Richards

Mumbai: Team India captain Virat Kohli has is going through a tough time in his cricket career right now. After having led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli’s stint with English County side Surrey was withdrawn as he suffered a neck injury.

With the England series kicking off in July, Kohli’s plan was to acclimatise to the English condition by playing for Surrey.

West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards has termed the 29-year-old as an ‘exciting’ player.

“What I know for sure is that he (Kohli) is an exciting player, and I remember in the past, the Indian team used to be very fragile in terms of when the sledging factor came into play, there were some fragileness attached to Indian teams,” Viv Richards was quoted saying by News18.

The 66-year-old also said that Kapil Dev established a competitive avenue for Indian cricket.

“Kapil Dev created the avenue for India that you must be competitive,” he added.

The former Caribbean cricketer also added that the Indian cricketers have become more resilient than before.

“The Indian players have become quite resilient. They do not back down quite easily these days,” he stated.
