Cricket fever is in the air. In an effort to encourage the worldwide fans of the game who are eagerly awaiting the World Cup 2019, the members of the Infopark Sangeetha Sabha, a 25 member  band comprising employees from different companies in the IT hub, has released Let’s Cricket Macha, a video song tribute to the game.

The song rendered in Tamil is aimed at getting a wider reach among the South Indian crowd, according to Karthik, a founding member of the band and one of the eight lead singers of Let’s Cricket Macha. Overwhelmed by the immense support and great responses to their efforts to bring music into the busy lives of IT professionals, he says, “It all started a few years back when I and my friends started discussing about songs and singing songs to break the monotony after office hours. All of us being music enthusiasts, our discussions went on and on and more people started joining us. We found that among us were composers,
lyricists, singers and people who are well-versed with musical instruments, and soon formed a band. We started bringing out video songs; Let’s Cricket Macha is our fourth one.” Other songs by the band are- Ponkathironam, Olle Olle.Oh! and Paadidaam Parakkam.

The song that also has English rap and strong views against match fixing has been a hit since its YouTube release. The poster release of Let’s Cricket Macha was done by playback singer Sudeep and cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth. The techies took over a month to bring out the video; the shooting was completed in one day. “It was a challenging task because work is our priority and we couldn’t compromise on our professional space. Our company has been providing us a wonderful platform to showcase our talents and taking leave together wasn’t practical for the team,” says Karthik explaining why they shot it in a single day. In order to get a quality output, they sought help from friends working in Mollywood on technical aspects like editing.

Karthik adds that celebrities including singers and actors too have shown immense support to the band by promoting the song through their official facebook page.

The Infopark Sangeetha Sabha is planning live shows and hopes to become a popular band soon. Their busy work schedule would be a hurdle, but the love for music would be the guiding force for these passionate techies.
