When Hardik Pandya nearly got arrested in West Indies because of Kieron Pollard

Pandya, who never shies away from playing pranks on teammates got a taste of his own medicine during India's tour of West Indies.

Mumbai: Hardik Pandya shares a good rapport with not only Indian players but also many overseas cricketers. The all-rounder first emerged in the cricketing limelight due to his performances for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI), who has been with since 2013.

Over the years, the 23-year-old has formed a close relationship with West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard, who has also been playing for the Paltans. The Baroda all-rounder who has been a jovial character and never shies away from playing pranks on teammates got a taste of his own medicine during India’s tour of West Indies in July.

"So, he (Pollard) actually pulled my leg. He called a policeman, who was trying to arrest me. The policeman was his friend. They decided to scare me. I knew it was a prank but at one point, things got a little serious. I stayed calm and I thought I would call the Indian team and sort out the matter because I haven't done anything wrong, " Pandya said on a show Breakfast With Champions.

"I figured out it was a prank when I saw the police officer try to call someone while holding the phone upside down with the speaker at the wrong end. Pollard asked me why I was calm. I said 'See Polly, nothing will happen to me if you are around. I am in your city," he added.

The bond is so strong between the duo that Pandya even terms the big West Indian his 'brother from another mother'. When asked the reason behind the name, the India star revealed, "I met everyone at his place. He keeps on going to people's places, I went everywhere with him. That's why I call him a brother from another mother.”

The swashbuckling all-rounder is currently out of action for the Sri Lanka series after he demanded rest.
