Bengaluru: India skipper Virat Kohli has been unconvincing with the bat in the home series against Australia, posting paltry scores of zero and 13 in the first Test in Pune.

While the pitch at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune was blamed for India’s batting collapse in the first Test, the pitch at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru has a lot more to offer, for the batsmen.

However, Kohli got out in a fashion that is similar to his dismissal in the second innings of the first Test where he did not offer any shot.

While Kohli completely left an inwardly angled Steve O’Keefe ball on the off side, which went on to crash into his stumps in Pune, he did not offer a shot to a Nathan Lyon ball, thinking that it would go down the leg side. However, the ball wrapped him on the pads right in front of the middle stump, as the umpire raised his finger. Even a DRS referral could not save Kohli on this occasion.

Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar, who was commentating during that time, explained that a few deliveries before, Lyon had fired on in, that pitched on line and turned enough to go past the leg side. This one however, held its line.
