League match: Rahul, Jayaram steal show
Sohail, Akash, Sagar score centuries in 3-day league.
Hyderabad: G. Rahul Singh smashed a big century while E. Jayaram Reddy scalped a brilliant six-for to hog the limelight on Day One of the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Three-Day League matches played in the city on Tuesday.
In the match against Continental CC, AOC’s Rahul smashed a quickfire 150 to put his side in strong position. In his 88-ball entertaining stint, Rahul dispatched 16 fours and 10 sixes while Shivam Tiwari, with 67, played supporting role as AOC finished the day at 314 for 7 in 57 overs.
Earlier in the day, Continental’s batting unit failed miserably as they were bowled out for a mere 80. Trivender, Mohit Kumar and Sagar Sharma picked three wickets each.
In another match, Sagar Chourasia scored a composed 129 off 132 balls (4x22, 6x2) before Hyderabad Bottling’s E. Jayaram Reddy ran through India Cements batting line-up to bowl them out for 298. Jayaram’s bowling figures read 27-8-77-6.
In the match against Sporting XI, Shaik Sohail displayed tremendous grit at the crease by scoring a 218-ball 116 to guide EMCC to 267. before their side were bowled out in the 88th over. M. Anjaneyulu took 4 for 58 for Sporting.
Akash Bhandari was another performer to shine with the bat. In the 84 deliveries he played, the right-hander tonked 24 boundaries and two sixes before SBI were all down for 391. In reply, Income Tax were 14 for 1 at stumps.
