Cricketers in the hot seat
The hot seat of KBC was reserved for our women in blue on Friday. In a special segment, these ladies won a prize of Rs 6.4 lakh.
Seven Indian women cricketers were up for a test of knowledge on Friday as they appeared on the popular TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati. According to Jhulan Goswami, “bowling on the field of cricket is much easier than sitting in the hot seat”.
Jhulan, along with captain Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamoorthy and Poonam Raut faced a barrage of questions from the charming host Amitabh Bachchan.
Speaking exclusively to Deccan Chronicle, the pace bowler says, “It was a wonderful and different kind of experience. Never in my life did I think I would get to sit in front of him. Since childhood, he has been my hero.”
Though the players were nervous, Bachchan made them comfortable. Jhulan had the answer ready for the question related to South African bowler Dane van Niekerk, who picked up 4 wickets for no runs to create an ODI record.
“I have been playing cricket for so long and I knew the answer,” she added. “We have seen Mr. Bachchan on the silver screen and never missed his films. The way he conducts the show is unbelievable. We cherished every moment of shoot,” Jhulan says.
Tushar Arothe, coach of the women’s team, was also there to help the girls.
The income of Rs 6,40,000, won by them, will go to Hyderabad-based Prayas, an institution which takes care of girls.
Mithali took to social media to talk about the show and wrote: “Rendezvous with the legend. A gentleman who never seems to age...thank you for having us on the show sir... (sic).”
