Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif wants his side secured

Nawaz also sought report from Pakistan Cricket Board on poor performance of Pakistani cricket team in Asia Cup.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday directed Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to ensure foolproof security of Pakistan cricket team in India in coordination with Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

In a meeting here, the Interior Minister here briefed the Prime Minister on security issues particularly the matter pertaining to security of Pakistan cricket team during its Indian visit expected this month to take part in T20 World Cup.

The Prime Minister directed the ministry to send a security team in advance to India to report on security measures there for taking the final decision in this regard.

The Prime Minister also sought report from Pakistan Cricket Board on poor performance of Pakistani cricket team in Asia Cup.

Earlier, the Interior Minister called on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan and discussed the issue.

Pakistan squad is supposed to leave for India within four days however, the interior minister said that the government could not green light Pakistan’s participation until satisfactory security is ensured.

The BCCI chairman Shashank Manohar had assured foolproof security to Pakistani team. Himachal Pradesh’s government had earlier refused to host the match between Pakistan and India.
