India vs Australia, 2nd Test: Australia end Day 2 on 237/6, lead by 48 runs
Australia were 237 for six at stumps on day two of the second Test in Bangalore on Sunday, leading India by 48 runs in the first innings.
Bengaluru: Stumps! It was a mixed day for India. The bowlers did a good job and picked up six wickets. More than the wickets, it was the disciplined and deadly bowling that impressed the fans, but gritty innings by Matthew Renshaw and Shaun Marsh helped the visiting team take the lead.
Australia ended the second day's play on 237/6, with a lead of 48 runs. Matthew Wade (25) and Mitchell Starc (14) are still batting.
Both teams fought for the momentum. While India dominated the first two sessions, Australia would be happy with how they have performed over the day. They have taken the lead in the first innings and are clearly on the top.

Wicket! Soft dismissal. Marsh, out caught by Nair off Yadav's bowling. It was full delivery, Marsh flicked it to the leg side, but unfortunately straight to the fielder at mid-wicket. Mitchell Starc has come out to bat.

Australia now lead by 26. Marsh and Wade have also completed 50-run partnership. And even though Indian bowlers have been good throughout the day, India should be getting a little worried.

Fifty! Marsh brings up his half-century. It has been a real gritty innings, his sixth test fifty. Australia have now taken the lead.

Shaun Marsh has just survived two chances. Ishant trapped him in front of the wickets and umpire gave him out, Marsh called for DRS and the review showed that the impact was outside off stump.
Later, he would also edge a delivery to first slip only for it to fall short of Kohli at the first slip.

Wicket! Mitch Marsh, out LBW. pacer Ishant Sharma strikes on the last ball before tea. It was a fuller deliver and kept low, nothing much that Marsh could have done there.
Time for tea. Overall, It has been a good session for India. They have picked three wickets in the middle session, with majority of Aussie batters back to the pavilion. The visiting team have scored 163/5 in 80 overs and trail by 26 runs.

Gone! Jadeja strikes again. Peter Handscomb, out caught by Ashwin. Third wicket for Jadeja. The batsman flicked the flighted delivery to mid-wicket, Ashiwn dived to his right, juggled the ball a couple of times but finally held on to the catch.

Wicket! Jadeja strikes again and this time to dismiss the set batsman. Renshaw, out stumped. Clever bowling by the left-hander and the disciplined bowling has worked for India. Renshaw hit Jadeja for a six two deliveries back and stepped out again against the bowler, but this time Jadeja outfoxed him. Brilliant Stumping by Saha.

Fifty! Second fifty on this tour for Renshaw. Third fifty for the Australian batsman off 184 balls, quite a patient innings. They still trail by 74 runs.

India bowlers have continued with the disciplined line in the second session and have kept it very tight. Australia now trail by less then 100 runs. Renshaw is unbeaten on 42 off 167 deliveries, Shaun Marsh is batting on 5.

That's it, the first session is over and what an absorbing session of cricket it was! India bowlers came out with aggression and bowled in the right areas. R Ashwin picked up the wicket of David Warner, while Ravindra Jadeja removed the danger man, Steve Smith.

India are clearly on top Australia here. Bowling this morning has been very tight and runs have dried up for the visit team. The Indian bowlers have come out with aggression and are bowling in the right areas.

Wicket! Ashwin removes Warner, India pick the first wicket. The team is pumped up, what a wicket. Pitches and rips past the bat to knock off stump. Warner tried to play at the back foot and ended up exposing the stumps.

Bengaluru: India will look to bounce back on Day 2 of the second Test after they were bundled out for 189 in the first innings on Day 1.
Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon claimed career-best figures of eight for 50 to bowl out India for 189. This was India’s third batting collapse in a row against the visiting team. The Virat Kohli-led side could only manage to put up 105 and 107 in the two innings of the first Test in Pune.
Lyon tormented Indian batters with spin and bounce as he picked up crucial wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli among others.
Team India won the toss and elected to bat. Injured Murali Vijay was replaced at the top by Abhinav Mukund, who was dismissed for a duck by Mitchell Starc on his return to the team after six years. Lyon dismissed Pujara immediately before lunch with India on 72/2.
The next two sessions belonged to the team from Down Under as Team India's woes against quality spin bowling continued. The hero of Pune Test, Steve O’Keefe, dismissed Karum Nair to pick up his solitary wicket in the first innings.
