Rajat Bhatia backs Pune to turn things around against Delhi
Pune are currently sixth on the points table, with just two wins to show after eight matches.
New Delhi: Rising Pune Supergiants all-rounder Rajat Bhatia on Wednesday backed his team, saying “things can change in the T20 format” and they were confident of turning it around.
Pune are currently sixth on the points table, with just two wins to show after eight matches. Their opponents on Thursday, Delhi Daredevils, are second and have been in top form.
Bhatia reckoned they have “nothing to lose” and will give their all on the morrow.
“You never know. Some teams who are winning might lose and those losing may win. You cannot judge any team at this stage of the tournament.
“In T20 cricket, it can change any time. It’s all about momentum,” Bhatia said here on match eve. Pune have drafted in George Bailey and Usman Khawaja as replacements for Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith, and Bhatia hoped that they would get going soon.
“Injuries are unavoidable. We can only do our best. It’s a big squad and everybody gets an opportunity. Let us hope for the best,” he said. The Delhi-based player put the onus on skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, saying it was different playing under someone like him.
“You know the captain of our team, his record speaks for itself so you don’t have to say anything more,” Bhatia said. “Even though we are not doing well right now, it doesn’t mean he is not a good captain. I always feel that his way of thinking is completely different. “Even when you are expecting that he will be angry, he does not get angry. That’s what I am learning from him.”
