Manchester: India wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday recorded the most number of stumpings in Twenty20 internationals (33 sumpings), surpassing Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal (32 stumpings).
The former captain stumped Joe Root off Kuldeep Yadav’s ball in the 14th over of England’s innings during the first T20I to reach the landmark.
Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad is third on the list (28 stumpings), while Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim (26 stumpings ) and Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara (20 stumpings) are placed fourth and fifth respectively.
The Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman also owns the record for most number of catches by a wicketkeeper (49), with Dinesh Ramdin (34) behind him.
The second T20I between England and India will take place in Cardiff on Friday.
