Division league: Aniketh, Ashish, Mickil top
Jaweed, Naveen, Suresh and Akash too come good.
Hyderabad: G. Aniketh Reddy and A. Ashish Reddy emerged best performers of Wednesday’s action in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s top division league matches played at various grounds here.
Left-arm spinner Aniketh took seven wickets while Ashish Reddy was unbeaten on 146 in the three-day league matches.
Mickil Jaiswal, M. Suresh, Akash Bhandari, Mir Jaweed Ali and M. Naveen Reddy were the next best on show. While the first three took five-wicket hauls, the last two hit a century each.
On the second day of a Pool ‘A’ match, Aniketh gave a tough time to the Income Tax batsmen with his fine figures of 17.5-3-58-7 even as P. Akshath Reddy (89) and B. Sandeep (99) batted big in their side’s 226 for 9 declared against BDL, who were all out for 133 in their first innings. BDL were 40 for 2 in their second essay when stumps were drawn.
The opening day’s action in the match between Andhra Bank and SBI saw two scintillating tons — by Ashish and Naveen Reddy — and a five-wicket haul from leg-spinner Akash Bhandari. Naveen hit 10 boundaries and three sixes in his 104 while Ashish slammed 14 fours and eight sixes in his unbeaten 146 to propel Andhra Bank to 498 for 5. Akash Bhandari was the lone ranger for SBI, taking 5 wickets while giving away 123 runs.
In another Pool ‘A’ match, Sporting XI piled a mammoth 417. Jaweed hit 110 off 118 balls in that total which included 17 boundaries and a maximum.
Mediumpacer Mickil was the most successful bowler for EMCC, taking five wickets while conceding 109 runs in 26.4 overs. At stumps, EMCC were 125 for 2 with Akash Kulkarni batting on 48.
In a Pool ‘B’ match South Cental Railway Sports Association rode on a brilliant spell by leg-spinner Suresh (15-6-26-5) to bundle AOC out for a lowly 142 and take a 20-run lead but faltered in their second innings to be reduced to 59 for 4 by close of play.
