K Thimmappiah tournament: David Mathias, More in stunning fightback
At close KSCA XI were 18 without loss in five over.
Bengaluru: David Mathias (79) and last-man Ronit More (41 n.o.) staged a spectacular fightback as KSCA XI, seemingly down for the count, stymied Himachal Pradesh CA’s bid to seize the first innings lead on the third day of the K Thimmappiah Memorial tournament at the Aditya Global grounds on Friday.
Resuming at 246 for nine in reply to HPCA’s 337, KSCA XI’s last wicket pair added a stunning 115 runs (170b) to thwart the visitors hopes before being all out for 342 in 102.4 overs.
The slender five-run lead counts for a lot, provided KSCA XI hold their nerve on the final day as the hosts bowling out HPCA for 223 in their second innings with Shreyas Gopal (4-73) and Abrar Kazi (4-63) striking repeatedly, need 219 for victory. At close KSCA XI were 18 without loss in five over.
