Hyderabad: Indian women’s cricket team skipper Mithali Raj thanked the St John’s Cricket Academy coaches (the place where she started playing cricket) for supporting her in her career, at the felicitation function held at the academy on Saturday.

“I thank Jyothi Prasad sir, he is the first person, to have given me a bat at this very ground (St. John’s Cricket Academy). He was the one who encouraged me and motivated me to pursue cricket when I was very young. He introduced me to Late Sampath Kumar (Mithali’s first coach), who laid the foundation for me,” said the Hyderabadi.

The star cricketer also thanked John Manoj, Arshad Ayub and other coaches who helped her grow and supported her throughout her career.

Budding players (girls and boys) of St. John’s Cricket Academy donning whites received trophies from their role model (Mithali) at the function. Cricket enthusiasts present were cheering Mithali’s feat.

The boys and girls were very happy receiving trophies from the renowned cricketer. Mithali’s proud father sent a message to all parents by asking them to encourage their children in whatever fields they were interested in.
