Hyderabad: Andhra batsman K. Nitish Kumar Reddy started from where he left in the last game to smash a huge hundred against Karnataka on the opening day of their Vijay Merchant Trophy Under 16 second round match on Tuesday.

Nitish followed up his 301 not out against Tamil Nadu in the previous match with an unbeaten 178 as Andhra piled 293 for 2 at the ECIL grounds.

Nitish dominated the bowlers to smack 22 boundaries in his 258-ball knock as Andhra soared. B. Yoganand had hit 61 and P. Subramanyam was batting on 49 when stumps were drawn for the day.

Lakshay Jain and Mohanan Kumar of Tamil Nadu were the other heroes. Lakshay, who missed a century by three runs in the previous match against Andhra, made amends this time to score 110 off 257 balls, of which nine were sent the boundary. Mohanan hit 113 that included 18 fours as TN were sitting strong at 269 for 3 against Kerala.

In another match, Goa reached 205 for 7 against Hyderabad after Kaushal Hattangadi hammered 89.
