Virat Kohli is admirable to watch, says Gilchrist
'What he is achieving is going not just throughout India but it is on a global stage and is being noticed by global audience.'
New Delhi: Former Australia captain Adam Gilchrist has admitted that he is a great fan of Virat Kohli and that it is admirable to watch the batting prowess of the Indian star.
"Virat is admirable to watch. I can't ever recall a feeling that the hunger that I see he has and I thought I was pretty keen. He is such a determined young man. What he is achieving is going not just throughout India but it is on a global stage and is being noticed by global audience," said Gilchrist in an exclusive interview to ANI.
Kohli was awarded the Player of the Tournament and was also named as the captain of the ICC World Twenty20 XI for accumulating a staggering 273 runs in five matches at an equally impressive average of 136.50.
The former explosive opener, who is now Australia's Education ambassador to India, also stressed on forging a strong bond between both the nations through the medium of education.
Asked whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni should step down from captaincy role to make way for Kohli, Gilchrist said: "It is hard to judge and not for me to comment. MSD has been a remarkable servant to the Indian cricket. He has provided some of the countries cricketing highlights in their whole history. There is no doubt in his leadership and his capabilities. And clearly, Virat has got a huge future ahead of him as a leader. He is learning the leadership role well."
