Virat Kohli reveals how R Ashwin reacted to being dropped from India-Pakistan game
Ravindra Jadeja got the nod for the Team India XI in the Pakistan game, as Virat Kohli decided to field 4 pace bowlers.
London: Despite being left out of the team in the crucial match against arch-rivals Pakistan, star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has given complete support to skipper Virat Kohli, on his endeavour to find the perfect balance for Team India in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.
Kohli revealed, on the eve on India’s second group stage match of the Champions Trophy, that the Chennai-born spinner understands the dynamics that the team needed in the game against Pakistan.
“Ashwin is a high-class bowler, everyone knows that. And he’s very professional as well,” said Kohli during the pre-match press conference. “He understood the dynamics of the side we picked in the last game against Pakistan, and he was absolutely fine with it.
“He told me, ‘I support you with whatever you want to do’. That’s always been our equation,” said Kohli.
Despite the fact that Ashwin does not react negatively to being dropped, Kohli said that he does have little disagreements with the ace spinner.
“Yes, we do have our disagreements on bowling decisions and all those sort of things because he’s a very smart guy and he has his own plans in place,” Kohli continued.
“But in this case, where team selection comes into play, he professionally understands what the team demands, and that’s a very nice thing, a very beautiful thing that he always puts the team first,” said Kohli.
