Colombo: Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again showed flashes of his brilliance with a lightning quick stumping behind the stumps to send Sri Lanka batsman Angelo Matthews back to the pavilion during the lone T20I between India and Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite being annihilated with a clean sweep by Virat Kohli’s men in the Test and ODI series, the hosts desperately chased for a win that was clearly evident from the first ball. With nothing to lose, they went after the Indian bowlers and even with two down, the Lions ticked the run-rate at a healthy pace.

Angelo Matthews and Dilshan Munaweera looked to steady the Sri Lankan innings before Dhoni sent the former packing in no time. Yuzvendra Chahal tempted Matthews to drive forward, but the Sri Lanka batsman missed the line and his bails were disrupted by the former India skipper in a flash.

Matthews looked like he was back in time, but after a review by the on-field umpires, he, unfortunately, fell victim to Dhoni’s sharpness. Earlier, the former India skipper also completed his century of ODI stumpings, thus becoming the first wicket-keeper to do so.

Twitterati was quick to laud the 36-year-old for his prowess once again behind the stumps.
